Some Information About Chengdu Climate

If you have come to Chengdu, surely you cannot forget climate there. Featured as mild weather, four distinct seasons, long frost-free period, plenty of rainfall and less sunlight, Chengdu has a subtropical humid monsoon climate with the annual average temperature is 16.2°, with annual maximum temperature of 37.3°, annual extreme minimum temperature of -5.9°. July and August are the hottest months with the average temperature of 25.4° in July and 25.0° in August. And January is the coldest month with the average temperature of 5.6°.

 

The total rainfall amount is 918.2 mm a year. The maximum rainfall is mainly concentrated in July and August with the monthly amount of 225 mm and 229 mm respectively. The minimum rainfall appears at December and January with the monthly amount of 6 mm, respectively.

The period of rainstorm appears mainly in May to September with the stable rainstorm period of at the end of June, early July and late August.

 

The main climatic characteristics of each season:

 

Spring: the temperature rise up early, and is benefit to the growth of plants and trees in early spring. While the unstable weather usually suddenly rise and suddenly drop, and is persistent in low temperature, so it is harmful to plants in most part of spring.

 

Early summer: the temperature is moderate, with a larger temperature difference between day and night.

 

Mid-summer: hot and rainy, with intense sunlight.
